Time for Tulips

ruthlemmen

Spring is a brief, but lovely, season in Beijing.  Last Sunday afternoon, I was in the general vicinity of Zhongshan Park, which is famous for its tulip exhibition.  Going to see the tulips has been on my spring to-do list for several years now, but I’d never actually done it.  It may be a bit cliche, since I’m from a town famous for having a festival for tulips, but tulips are one of my favorite flowers.  I enjoyed wandering the park, discovering beds of many varieties of tulips.  It made for a lovely few hours, but it still wasn’t quite the same as eating an elephant ear along a tulip lined street filled with Dutch dancers.

Enjoy my tiptoe through the tulips (or perhaps I should say, through the crowds, because there were lots of other people enjoying the tulips, too)!

This is something that Holland doesn’t have–tulips with the red walls of the Forbidden City in the background!
