Meet Ruth
I became a spiritual director because receiving spiritual direction is a gift to me. I started meeting with a spiritual director after I graduated from seminary, full of questions about faith now that I was a “professional Christian”. In the years since, meeting with my director has helped me notice where God was working in hard seasons of life and ministry, discover ways to pray during uncertainty, and discern next steps.

I love to accompany pastors, church staff, global workers, and seminarians, among others, as you take time to nurture your own soul. I am honored to accompany you as you discern God’s invitations in different seasons, listen to your joys and sorrows, encourage you, and get a front row seat to how God is working in you (even when you have a hard time seeing it!). I meet either using video conferencing software or in-person in South East Grand Rapids, MI.
What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction is an ancient prayer practice of being with God and a trained companion (traditionally called a spiritual director), noticing together how God is present in your ups and downs, joys and sorrows, questions and doubts. Sitting together for an hour a month sets aside space and time to nurture your own soul, discern invitations from God, and grow in love for God and neighbor.
Spiritual direction is for anyone who wants to pay attention to and nurture their soul. It can be especially helpful if you are:

making significant decisions

longing to go deeper in relationship with God

feeling burned out on spiritual practices that used to work

in a season of transition or grief

leading and serving others constantly

don't experience God in the same way you used to
